Germany Bans Trimming Horse Whiskers And Ears

All members of the German Equestrian Federation have received a reminder, noting that trimming whiskers and ears is against animal welfare and forbidden in Germany, noted Secretary-general, Imke Lubeseder.

Germany bans trimming horse whiskers and ears and according to paragraph 6 of the German Animal Welfare Law, clipping or cutting the hairs inside the ears of horses and trimming the vibrissae around eyes and muzzle are prohibited!

German authorities will supervise every horse show in Germany and if they find horses unlawfully trimmed or clipped the competitors responsible for that will be fined. For welfare reasons, this rule was in effect in 1998. What do you think about this practice?
