The world’s tallest horse is Big Jake. This Belgian gelding is 210.2 cm and according to his owner who has raised him from a weanling, Big Jake was extremely hard to hold on to when he was young. As he was getting older he started to calm down and as Jerry Gilbert said, Big Jake is a very friendly horse!
The 2600-pound horse that lives at Smokey Hallow Farm likes to hang out with all the other animals. He works hard when he is harnessed to a wagon and has a great temperament. Jerry shared that everything about Big Jake is special. He is big and there is a lot of accommodation to be made for such a large animal. An average stall is about 12×12 feet, but Jake’s stall is 20×20 feet.
They use a semi-trailer when they need to transport him, but when it comes to his nutrition, Big Jake is on a strict diet. He is consuming 1 1/2 bales of hay and 40 quarts of oats per day. Jerry is really proud of his horse and he feels blessed for having the tallest horse on his farm.
Both of them enjoy when people come to visit the farm. The reactions when they see Big Jake are priceless and each one of them leaves the farm with a happy face. Find out more from the video and go riding!
